Websites & Apps
Linguee.com – I love this website, and the associated smart phone app (German). It is essentially an electronic dictionary. The thing I really like about it is the way it uses the words in a sample sentence to show you how it’s used.
Life Lessons of a Military Wife – The author of this website is someone I had the pleasure of meeting years ago. If you are looking for anything related to military life, or moving overseas, she’s probably written about it.
The Food Substitutions Bible – Sometimes it’s impossible to find an ingredient for your recipe. This book offers substitute ingredients for almost anything you can imagine. It is a lifesaver in my kitchen.
Duolingo – This is my new favorite App for language learning. I quickly grow bored with Rosetta Stone, and sometimes have a hard time directing my own studies. I love Duolingo, because it allows me to practice languages in small chunks. You can test out of skills you’ve already mastered so you can focus on weaker areas. It offers learning exercises German, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Irish, Danish. Swedish, Turkish, Norwegian, and Ukrainian.
Stitch Fix – It can be difficult to figure out where to buy clothes when you move somewhere new. I decided to give the online stylists at Stitch Fix a try, and I was not disappointed. You can use this referral link if you’d like to give it a try.
